Julia! Patroontest voor Compagnie M | Julia! Pattern test for Compagnie M

Wauw, the 3rd cool chick from Compagnie M that I am able to test: first there were Louisa and Lotta, and the past two weeks Julia joined us as well. Not 'just' Julio, no, Julia as in 'Julia, my new favorite pattern', hell yeah.

When Marte released the Julia for children, I couldn't wait to buy the pattern. While I'm always looking for a piece of clothing for my daughter that is just that bit different from the rest, Julia was a gift from heaven. I remember thinking 'I would like a Julia for myself actually.' And look at that, Marte did it again: talented as she is, she used her skills to make a Julia pattern for woman: how.cool.is.that. After I was one of the lucky ones that could test the Lotta skirt a few weeks ago, I couldn't wait to get started with Julia.

Katoen: Bobby Sewing in Mortsel
Superzachte tricot: Stoffe & Koffe in Schoten

During the testing tour I made two versions of the sweater, and the second - and my personal favorite - one can be seen in the pictures above. Compagnie M is known for the versatility of its patterns, and may the Julia pattern is the most versatile one of all. The pattern offers that much different options, that you can make a bunch of completely different sweaters from just one pattern, I just love it. Marte also proves this with all the completely different versions she made herself!
I used a non-stretch cotton fabric (which was in my stack a long time already because it was too beautiful to cut) for the middle part of front and back sweater, and a super soft jersey for the sleeves and wrist and hip bands. A winning combination if you ask me. The fact that you can use a normal cotton fabric for the middle parts, makes that you can vary even more with this pattern, a good thing if you find it difficult to find that perfect jersey fabric. Possibilities are just endless (by the way, on the picture you can also see Lotta skirt number 2).
Even with the split front and back, this sweater can be sewn so quickly. It didn't even take me 2 hours to draw the pattern pieces, cut the fabrics and put the whole thing together.
Thanks to the clear and detailled instructions from the pattern, this Julia is easy peasy to make, but the result looks really sophisticated I think, just the way I like it.

My first version, the 'basic' Julia, I can strongly recommend if you feel like making something that can be put together in less than one hour, but that doesn't look like something you put together in one hour. I chose a flashy piece of fabric that speaks for itself, and therefore doesn't ask for a complicated version of the sweater.

Stof: Stoffe & Koffe in Schoten

I could go on and on about this pattern and about all the other versions that I still want to make, but I'll leave something for my fellow testers who all made some beautiful and often unique pieces. There's just one thing for me to say: go for it, go and get yourself a nice piece of fabric and just buy the pattern here, you will surely not regret it!
